11 Best Restaurant and Bar Experiences in Vancouver in January 2012
In the Best Restaurant Meals series, I curate my most noteworthy nosh from the past week(s) with mobile photos.
After spending 2 months in Austin Texas, I was jonesing for proper Asian food so you will see a theme here. It was nice to be home, despite the gloomy and frigid weather. Good thing the food hit the spot and warmed me right up. Here are some of my most memorable meals.
Cocktail Writing and Photography: The Union Bar and Pandan Fashioned Cocktail Recipe
My ears perk up when I heard that Latitude Restaurant opened a sister restaurant and bar in Chinatown. Nose to Tail, Farm to Table, or just Straight Up Comfort Food at Refuel Restaurant in Vancouver

A close girlfriend and I decided to treat ourselves to a nice dinner on our infrequent girls’ night out. And by nice, I mean we splurged on the tasting menu with wine pairings at Hawksworth Restaurant.
Best Japanese Bento Box Lunch in Downtown Vancouver: Kingyo Izakaya
This bento is one of those fantastic finds that I’m reluctant to share in fear that they would sell out before I can get my hands on another one.
Kingyo is a bumpin’ izakaya on Denman Street that features fresh fish and an innovative small plate menu in a lively atmosphere. They know how to keep the sakes and beers flowing freely. As a bit of perfectionists, they have their salt and rice down to a science – I love that.
