Food & Wine Radio Interview – Vancouver Cuisine During Olympics

Yes, the 2010 Olympics invites more than swarms of drunken tourists and stoner-wannabes to Vancouver. It also welcomes the international media and brings cultural events and entertainment to our humble little city.

I am honored and ecstatic to be interviewed by an influential driving force in food media. James Beard Award and Gracie Allen Award winner, Jennifer English, is visiting Vancouver and featured me on Food and Wine Radio Network where we discussed the highlights of Vancouver’s culinary culture.

I was pretty nervous towards the beginning but Jennifer’s friendly and enthusiastic approach helped me feel more at ease. That was until she asked me to narrow down my top three “must eats”. Whoa, she really put me on the spot there! umm umm umm… my mind skittishly darted back to the my Vancouver 2010 series on Serious Eats and I blurted three without enough time to think!

Take a listen to this 2-part interview where we chatted about my perspective on Vancouver’s food culture, my spot prawn trapping experience, my blogging journey, and more.

Part 1

Part 2

How did I do?

p.s. In case you’re wondering, I didn’t realize the show was delayed by half a minute so I made a lot of noise coming back into the room in the end. haha! Silly is me.

You did wonderful – and on the spot too! I get so nervous on the phone so I’m SUPER impressed by your skillz. Well done! And you’re so articulate!

Congratulations! Although you were asked for 3 specific places, I think you nailed it with general concepts instead. Vancouver is so diverse that trying to make a top 3 would be really difficult (not to mention continuous)! And, despite I don’t love the word ‘foodie’, I love what you said: “We (in Vancouver) are foodies at heart”.

BTW, Today Show? Do you have that recorded and/or have a link for that? :D
