Every so often, I treat my readers to something neat. Today, it’s a gorgeous, healthy, and practical book:
Healthy Bread in Five Minutes a Day by Jeff Hertzberg and Zoë François.
In past giveaways, readers with Facebook but not Twitter felt they’re at a disadvantage. So this time, I’m creating a Facebook Exclusive Giveaway because I’m choosy like that ; )

Top 10 things I love about this book:
- Explains the science behind ingredient choices and techniques in plain terms for baking dummies like me.
- Although the whole loaf won’t magically appear in 5 minutes, it honestly only requires 5 minutes of prep for fresh bread daily.
- Provides many suggestions and alternatives to add nutrients and fibre without compromising flavour and texture.
- The “Master Recipe” is very versatile towards a variety of applications.
- The techniques are straight forward and illustrated.
- There is a good mix of traditional breads (e.g. baguette, bagel, challah, focaccia) and innovative recipes (e.g. zucchini flatbread, toasted millet and fruit bread, guacamole bread…)
- Includes Gluten-Free bread and pastry recipes and ratios for substitutions.
- Has an entire section dedicated to desserts and pastries for that sweet tooth!
- Did I mention healthy and easy corn bread? pizza crust? muffins? burger buns? sandwich loaf? crackers? breadsticks? the list goes on…
- It’s about time to face your fear of “carbs”, right? This book breaks down the benefits of “good carbs” to counter misconceptions.

I’ve been intrigued by this book ever since it came out… Artisan Bread itself is a great book, but we’re whole grain people at our house, so this book is just perfect.
